Several researchers have underscored the importance of learning climate in achieving educational objectives. In our study of 1,380 students and their teachers in the Montreal region, we show that (1) teachers' perceptions of learning climate are typically more positive than their pupils', (2) pupil and teacher expectations of learning climate are about the same, and (3) dissatisfaction about climate is greatest about pupil participation in decision making, teacher support of pupils, and classroom structure and organization.
