Guidelines
The Canadian Journal of Education/Revue canadienne de l’éducation (CJE/RCÉ) will, from time to time, publish special issues. The Journal accepts proposals for a Special Issues on an ongoing basis. A Special Issue will contain up to 5 articles and may replace one of the regular issues.
Special Issues are overseen by Guest Editors, with support and guidance provided by the CJE/RCÉ Anglophone and Francophone Editors to ensure alignment with the Journal’s editorial policies, scholarly standards, and peer review processes.
Submitting a Proposal

1. In order to be considered, the proposal should include
a. rationale,
b. list of potential topics for the articles under a particular theme,
c. an indication of scholars who have committed to submitting,
d. a discussion of how appropriate reviewers will be identified.
2. A rationale should present a case for exploring the topic or issue. The timeliness, significance, and broad impact should be clear, as well as the gaps in theory/research to which the Special Issue would be addressed.
3. Special Issues must meet the CJE/RCÉ’s editorial standards.
4. Articles selected for publication must be from diverse perspectives and modes of inquiry.
5. Reviewers must be drawn from a variety of institutions, scholarly associations or Special Interest Groups, and disciplines. Each reviewer may not review more than two articles.
6. Efforts should be made to include both English and French articles within a Special Issue.
7. Guest editors are asked to be aware of potential conflict of interest situations with respect to author-colleagues.
8. Guest Editors will work in conjunction with the respective Anglophone and Francophone CJE/RCÉ editor or rédacteur/trice, who will collaborate on all decision-making.
9. CJE/RCÉ Editors and Rédacteur/Rédactrice would provide necessary support to complete the Special Issue publication, even if the publication date is past the editorial appointment.
