Résumé

The absence of modes of data compilation that can describe dynamically teacher and participant behaviours in the natural setting of movement classes is recognized in the literature on supervision and research on teaching effectiveness. The authors proposed the combined use of transition, auto-transition, and mean duration of behaviours as a simple way of establishing indications of the dynamic organization of behaviours in the analysis of teaching. Borrowed from the domain of ecology, these basic notions are defined, and the results of a descriptive study of eight dance classes are used to illustrate their potential in research and supervision. The results indicate that more dynamic and precise descriptions of teaching processes could be obtained via the proposed methodology.
