L’impact de la recherche appliquée en milieu scolaire: Quelques considérations préliminaires

The usefulness of applied research in policy development and evaluation is often contested, for different reasons, by both researchers and administrators. The goal of this article is to delimit the characteristics of research which has actually been incorporated into educational policies. The analysis of 60 research projects undertaken in a large urban school board, located in the Province of Quebec, serving both Francophone and Anglophone students, has made it possible to note the importance of the way in which research is produced and adapted to the circumstances at hand. The research which was fruitful, in terms of use, met identified needs, involved a person having a recognized position in the educational hierarchy, was planned in collaboration with the interested parties, and was distributed taking into account the different types of possible users.
