Abstract

Canadian and American research has shown that principals and teachers see teacher evaluation differently. Generally speaking, principals see it positively and teachers have reservations about it. Research results indicate that principals’ and teachers’ values and interests may explain their attitudes to teacher evaluation. The present study aims empirically to confirm differences between principals’ and secondary-school teachers’ practical values, as well as between their views of teacher evaluation. It finds that both values and views are indeed different.
