Shai is a dynamic, visionary leader who saw the need to address inequities in access to higher education and founded the first non-profit, American-accredited, tuition-free online university. During the pandemic, the need for high-quality, low cost education has grown more pronounced, and University of the People now has more than 50,000 students coming from 200 countries and territories, including underserved populations like refugees and undocumented immigrants.
Cappy has been working with Shai for several years as a member of the University of the People’s Presidents Council. Our conversation will focus on the impact and lessons learned from the University of the People’s experience that might help us all understand better how to achieve greater equity in higher education. We will provide a way for you to submit questions in advance and will also have time for Q&A during the event.
Please register in advance, and feel free to share the event with others you think may find it of interest.
We’ll continue to update you on future Next Wave events via email and our website. Our broad theme this year is equity, with an emphasis on actions we can take to improve access to education and knowledge for everyone. We look forward to engaging this important topic with you through this virtual Next Wave series and to learning together.
