Abstract

Nine adolescents, 15 to 17 years of age and enrolled in a vocational program, habitually made "needless interruptions" in French class. Through a process of self-regulation, the subjects were allowed to participate actively in reducing the number of occurrences of disruptive behavior involving group members. Determining reinforcement contingencies in co-operation with the subjects, and allowing them to set their own performance goals, permitted them to start functioning acceptably as a group. Similar findings have been noted in other situations.
